Programme Team Internship

We are looking for energetic volunteers/interns to support our Programme Team in the delivery of our youth centred intervention programme to deliver Health, Education and Empowerment services to the community in Edendale.

Project Coordinator (Game Changers)

The Africaid Trust is a registered NGO in South Africa. It runs the award winning WhizzKids United (WKU) programme which provides adolescent health services and uses the power of football to deliver youth empowerment and educational progammes.

With our Health Academy, located at Edendale Hospital, we provide over 7,000 youth with Health, Education and Empowerment services every year.  Our award-winning On the Ball life skills programme has seen more than 50,000 youth graduating since its inception in 2006.

The Game Changers programme, launched in 2014, provides 10 young, talented prospects from the community with leadership and employability skills that will help them make a significant difference to their communities.

 

Location: Edendale, Pietermaritzburg
Salary range: Competitive

What we offer

Salary range: R8,000 - R12,000, depending on qualifications and previous experience.

What we are looking for

For our Game Changers project we are seeking a highly motivated and hard-working person who is willing to work in a team-based organisation. A sound interest in football and previous work experience in the field of Youth Development and/or Teaching would a strong advantage.

  • You have a minimum of three years’ work experience in project implementation
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline will give you a big advantage.
  • You think analytically and enjoy working with and creating statistics.
  • You have excellent language skills in English, both written and spoken. Even better if you also speak isiZulu.
  • You know your way around Microsoft Office (especially MS Word and Excel).
  • You call yourself a people person who motivates others and works well in a team as well as under own initiative.
  • Your work attitude is goal driven and you get the work done on time.
  • You see challenges as opportunities and a way to make great things happen.
  • Your approach to work is very organized and structured, with great attention to detail.
  • You are passionate about sports (especially football) and enjoy working with youth.
  • You are comfortable in teaching young adults in a class room setting.
  • You have a proven record of report writing which satisfied all relevant stakeholders.
  • You have sound experience in project and event management.
  • You must have a RSA valid driver’s license and PDP license and be comfortable driving a large people carrier.
  • You are legally permitted to take up employment in the Republic of South Africa.
  • You are willing to work in Edendale, Pietermaritzburg.
