This is how we change lives. Read on to find out more!

The Africaid Trust's WhizzKids United uses football as an educational tool to engage local youth and facilitate healthy behaviour change. We deliver effective HIV prevention, care, treatment and support to youth worldwide.

Harbouring one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world, as well as a huge passion for football, the Edendale township just outside Pietermaritzburg is home to the WhizzKids United's Health Academy. Whilst the key focus of our innovative clinic is the provision of specialist health services for youth and adolescents, it also houses a number of other programmes which are geared towards increasing the uptake of these services.
Health Academy

Health Academy

WhizzKids United's Health Academy is our very own adolescent sexual health clinic and youth centre. Run in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health, we offer a complete football-led package of prevention, care, treatment and support services for youth.

The Health Academy serves as a hub in the community and is a key element in providing sustainable services to the people.

We are excited that as a part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Legacy, WhizzKids United was awarded one of twenty Football for Hope Centres being built across Africa. The Centre adjoins our Health Academy and includes a 40x20m artificial grass pitch, increasing our appeal and reach to yet more youth in the area.

We provide several after-school programmes throughout the year to encourage students to continue the learning experience beyond the classroom.

With the help of local and international volunteers, we are able to provide a range of programmes including, but not limited to, arts & crafts, choir, book clubs and homework support classes.

As a youth-centered organisation, we focus on giving adolescents the tools they need in life to succeed in various capacities. From preparing young adults to enter the workforce and giving youth the opportunity to develop their creative eye to promoting gender equality and more. We aim to empower young people with skills and information that could help them later on in life.

Monitoring and Evaluation

We know our programmes work, because we monitor and evaluate every step of the way. Our aim is to provide exactly what is needed in the community and we don't take any chances when it comes to proving that we reach our targets. Supported by a comprehensive collection of M&E tools, including a customised database system our team is on top of their game at all times.
