WhizzKids United envisages a world where young people are happy, healthy, safe and secure and have the opportunity to realise their goals. To achieve this we use the universal language of football (soccer, for our American visitors) to help young people achieve their potential.

To make sure our Model of Care can be successfully delivered anywhere in the world we launched WhizzKids United in Umgungundlovu district, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa! Why - because this area has the highest rate of HIV prevalence in the world at a staggering 40.7%. Adding to this are high rates of teenage pregnancy, sexual abuse, crime, school drop-out, and orphaned and vulnerable children.

We believe and have witnessed that our youth learn and respond best when they are motivated and engaged with interactive programmes, especially those that involve football! Youth are much more responsive when the methods of learning are trust forming, dynamic, goal orientated and delivered at their level. As a result, we are proud to offer the most comprehensive and successful sexual and reproductive health, education and empowerment services through football in the world.

Through the power of football our services empower and educate youth to be healthy, happy and secure - able to determine their own future.

Why Football

From our experience in working with youth we realised that they learn and respond best when they are highly motivated and engaged with interactive lessons. Youth are much more responsive when the methods of learning are dynamic, goal-oriented and delivered in a language that all youth can speak and understand. Thus our programme recognises that football is the perfect teaching tool as it speaks a universal language that appeals to all children, both boys and girls, and transcends culture and background.

Our programme chiefly benefits the adolescents by teaching them life skills, helping them to develop their character and perceptions of gender roles, as well as enhancing their knowledge about HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Our goal is to continue bringing football to life so we can develop the feet that shape the future.

"We youth come to WhizzKids United because it is a prestigious organisation that empowers us in having a good healthy lifestlye. And the football is fun, too."
