Today saw the launch of Africaid′s exciting new partnership with Solar World. Africaid successfully applied for the provision of three Solar World Systems; complete with DSTV, DVD player and a Sony TV, completely powered by solar energy.

The three systems were successfully installed at Africaid′s Centre of Excellence in central Durban, their youth centre in Lamontville and their Health Academy in Edendale.

In the short term this will give thousands of youths, many of the WhizzKids United graduates, the opportunity to feel a part of the FIFA 2010 World Cup. While not being able to necessarily attend a game, they will at least get the opportunity to see the game on television.

In the longer term, the DSTV subscription is for five years, these systems will be the focus for community evenings, information sharing sessions and even the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
