Eight kids from Africaid's WhizzKids United programme have returned from a successful seven day trip to Cape Town, to celebrate the opening of the first Football for Hope Centre, part of FIFA's 20 centres for 2010, their legacy for next year's FIFA World Cup.

World AIDS Day was first conceived in August 1987 by James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, two public information officers for the Global Programme on AIDS at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

Africaid′s WhizzKids United programme has been nominated for an award with SCORE4africa for its outstanding work in the field of HIV.
SCORE4africa is a social enterprise wholly owned by UK Registered Charity The African Foundation for Development.

The World Health Organisation and UNAIDS jointly released the 2009 AIDS Epidemic Update which estimated that 33.4 million people worldwide are infected with HIV, with about 2/3 of those living in sub-Saharan Africa.

Last week saw the completion of the play offs, confirming the last remaining teams for the FIFA 2010 World Cup, albeit in controversial circumstances!

A cheque for R2500 was handed over by BDO and Virgin Active to WhizzKids United today at the Virgin Active at the Gateway shopping centre in Durban.
These funds were collected from sales of cycling t-shirts during the "Tour de Virgina" spinning event which was held in July this year to coincide with The tour de France.
